Canadian Immigration: What to Expect over the next 6 months? (JULY 2020 UPDATE)

July 4 - The coronavirus has nearly been affecting everyone on the planet. It has affected Canadian Immigration too but not that much! Canada is STILL the most Open country on the planet right now & continues to give green signal to prospective immigrants. The good news is that Canada did not stop immigration & in fact government held more Express Entry draws in the pandemic. So, we should see things continue to improve in the second half of 2020, and hopefully normalize by 2021.

Immigration Levels Plan 2021-2023

Ultimately, COVID-19 has not impacted Canada’s need for immigration, so there is a strong chance immigration levels will remain high in 2021 and beyond. The one major reason why Canada needs immigration now more than ever is that Canada is expecting a huge number of its economic workers to retire before 2023 & Since Immigration is the driver of the country's economy, Canada will continue to rely on immigration.

Will there be another FSWP Draw in 2020?

Well, to this nobody has an answer. However, according to resources and considering the immigration trends, we are expecting the government to resume FSWP rounds of invitations by the end of August 2020 as Canada's travel restrictions will also expire by the 31st of July 2020. Canada had paused FSWP rounds since the world pandemic was declared. However, CEC & PNP rounds did not stop!

No FSWP rounds, what should I do?

Well, this is an excellent opportunity for you to start considering and applying for the Provincial Nominee programs as the IRCC has been doing regular draws for PNP candidates. PNP gives you additional 600 points in your Express Entry profile which results in the guaranteed invitation of yours in the very next round of Express Entry.
