MM2H Age and Stay Requirements
The minimum principal-applicant age is:

Participants below age 50 must generally complete at least 90 cumulative days in Malaysia each year. The requirement may be fulfilled by the principal applicant and/or registered dependants under the applicable category rules. Applicants aged 50 or above currently have no minimum annual stay requirement.
Compulsory Property Purchase
MM2H participants must purchase and own an eligible Malaysian residential property after receiving approval.
The property generally cannot be sold for ten years, except when upgrading to another property of a higher value. The SEZ/SFZ category currently requires the purchase of property in Forest City, Johor, subject to Johor’s applicable property-acquisition policy.
Applicants should normally demonstrate:
- Relevant business ownership or management experience
- Genuine control over the Canadian enterprise
- An active operational role in Canada
- A viable and well-researched business plan
- Sufficient funds to establish and operate the business
- Lawful and traceable source of investment funds
- Credible financial and employment projections
- Meaningful Canadian economic, social or cultural benefit
